Kids today

Living in sunny Arizona, my kids aren’t exposed to all the elements of weather that many children experience. On the way home from the gym it was unusually gloomy. Alison, my 8 year old, said, “Mom, we are learning about clouds in school. I just saw a gray cloud!” She was proud of her observation. My husband and I, both being raised in the Midwest, exchanged silent, but incredulous expressions.

I guess this is where, as parents, we could have told the kids how easy they have it. Back when we were kids, we had gray clouds for many days at a time. Sometimes it felt like weeks! But we didn’t. As we all got out of the car, I whispered to Brad, “That was bloggable, right? “Oh yeah,” he agreed.

  1. I can't believe you were both able to refrain from comment! Not a gray cloud!! I'm barely suffering through Feb in WI, and your picture was just teasing! I can't imagine a world without making sure the boots, mittens and hats are on the boot dryer every night so they are not still wet the next day and bundling everyone up in snowpants, boots, coats, hats, mittens and scarves... Oh, let me come live with you and see the gray cloud.

  2. Wow, a boot dryer? They didn't have those when I was a kid. My hat is off to you...I don't know how you deal with it all. I'm sorry but the gray one is gone, but I do see a puffy white one. You are welcome to come live with us and observe it. Love you Jill!!!
